New Years Day Shoot - Barrington NH, Any Interest?

Last New Years Day an informal Parker shotgun shoot was held at Major Waldron's Sportsman's Association. The weather was brutally cold and windy. Trap and Skeet targets were very tough but we still had fun. We had a good turnout close to 50 shotguns and at least 20 Parker owners present. I think everyone who came had a good time. We can have access to the club facilities again this New Years Day if we want to get together again. Whose interested in coming?

Pete,Thanks for putting this on again.Last year was a great time but could you guys turn on the heat this year.. My son Danny and I have every intention of attending.

Dean Romig 12-11-2009 12:41 PM

I'll be there for sure.

Does anyone have a hat I can borrow?

scott kittredge 12-11-2009 12:53 PM

E Robert Fabian 12-11-2009 01:34 PM

New Years Day Shoot at Maj Waldron

Looks good; give me an update a few days in advance.

Best, Austin

Robin Lewis 12-11-2009 04:18 PM

Count me in too.

Jim Pasman 12-12-2009 03:32 PM

Pete,
I'm interested in joining. As a "newbie" this will be my first yet unofficial PGCA event. What time do the festivities start and aside from a favorite Parker and ammo, what else is required?
Jim

Pete Lester 12-12-2009 03:46 PM

Jim, we'll probably do it as we did last year only this time maybe it will be warmer and less windy. Conditions last year were just slightly better than the north pole. Everyone that wanted to got to shoot at least 2 rounds of trap and 2 rounds of skeet. The club non-member rates are $4.50 per round. We threw in some extra money and the high overall score got a little purse. We brought all the clubs gun racks into the shotgun house and put everyone's guns on display. Some of the attendees brought hot food that most welcome and we can set up a coffee maker. The shotgun house is essentially a two car garage and it was a little tight but we made do. I think we started shooting around 9AM and everyone quit around 3ish. So bring a gun to shoot trap, a gun to shoot skeet, enough shells for at least 4 rounds, warm clothing, eye and ear protection, shell bag and a little bit of money.

E Robert Fabian 12-12-2009 03:49 PM

Jim, hope to see you in sunny NH. The only thing you could bring is a dish for lunch. I'm going to bring some venison and my wife if I behave will make a batch of stuffed mushrooms.

Don't forget a hat, it could get ugly!

Pete Lester 12-12-2009 04:04 PM

Could get ugly?

Bring a hat it could get ugly, why whatever do you mean by that Bob?

Jim Pasman 12-13-2009 12:51 PM

Thanks for the replys everyone. I'll see you there with a pan of lasagna (or something close) and the rest of my gear. I always wear a hat (spelled b-a-l-d) but I don't have as nice a hat as Dean's nor one that fits as well....

scott kittredge 12-13-2009 01:05 PM

hi jim, can wait to meet you. last year it was about 2 deg. and 35 mph winds, so unless the is a big snow storm we should be there!!! bring plenty of shotgun shells. scott

Dean Romig 12-13-2009 01:11 PM

Actually, I was fondling Mr. Dunkle's 20 ga. Damascus DH and sumpin' went wrong. That's a picture of me givin' it back to him sayin' "Sorry John, I think it's broke - but I'll give you a couple hunnert bucks fer it so's ya don't hafta get it fixed."

scott kittredge 12-13-2009 01:47 PM

i think you are talking about my DH 20,and i don't remember you asking to shoot it! hmmm scott

Dean Romig 12-13-2009 08:07 PM

Scott, I didn't shoot it - John set me up saying it was his. There seems to be some disagreement between you and John as to who that lil' sweetie belongs to.

bob weeman 12-15-2009 12:18 PM

Are there any special requirements to attend this event? I am a Parker owner but have never shot much formal Trap or Skeet. Most of my shooting is off of hand traps and bird hunting of course. Sounds like a fun event and an opportunity see some great Parkers.

Dave Suponski 12-15-2009 12:30 PM

Bob,I'm glad you asked..:)The special requirements are as follows.1)You have to shoot a Parker of some sort.2)You must be able to laugh at yourself as well as others.3)You must be able to take some good natured ribbing from your fellow shooters(here that Romig!) and 4)You must dress to suvive the brutal(at least last year)cold weather.5)Have the ability to hang out with a great bunch of like minded Parker nuts. Oh ya bring some food...:bigbye:

See ya there!

:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: I don't think we can be classified as shooting "formal" anything.

Yeah Bob, it's definitely a fun time - please show up and join us.

bob weeman 12-15-2009 03:23 PM

Sounds great! With my shooting skills I am used to a little (or lot) of good natured ribbing. Luckly I am better at making a good lasagna.....are there directions anywhere?

Pete Lester 12-15-2009 05:28 PM

Directions to Major Waldrons

Directions to the club for New Year's Day shoot is here (fourth item down on menu to left):

http://www.majorwaldron.com/web/about/index.htm

All ribbing is good natured except in the case of John Dunkle, if we say anything about him, we mean it :) Although last year he had the privilege of firing the very first shot through a previously unfired 16ga hammer gun (just a rumor I am sure)

Dave Suponski 12-15-2009 05:33 PM

Hey Pete,The last time I was there there wasn't any "Green " in the front of the main house at all...

TTT. Anybody else coming?

Dean Romig 12-23-2009 02:35 PM

I plan to bring my brother-in-law Jamie, my hunting buddy, who claims to own a nice 16 ga. Trojan . . . but he still hasn't paid me for it so I guess it's still mine.

I'm afraid to reply - after reading this thread and the clear abuse I've taken to name, reputation, well-being, virtue, name, reputation, well-being, virtue, name, reputation, well-being, virtue, name, reputation, well-being and my virtue....

I might come - and bring my Dalys, Brownings and Scotts...

Pete Lester 12-28-2009 11:19 AM

At this time the weather report for Friday is a mix of rain and snow. I wondering if this will deter anyone from coming or taking their guns out on the range. Let me know your thoughts.

Friday, January 01

Rain/Snow High 36°
Low 26°

Mix of rain and snow.

Dean Romig 12-28-2009 11:26 AM

My guns will be well oiled before carrying them out onto the field and well dried and cleaned when they are carried back into the clubhouse.

E Robert Fabian 12-28-2009 06:16 PM

I'm not scared. About the weather anyway, my shooting another story.

Dave Suponski 12-28-2009 06:26 PM

After last year a little snow ain,t nutinn..

Bill Bolyard 12-28-2009 06:44 PM

Hey Dunkle,

And I thought it was just me who treated you this way. Wow, I think I should reconsider my behavior towards you. That's it, My New years resolution will be, to be a kinder gentler Bolyard towards you:eek:

Wish I could attend

Bolyard
