My First SBT

Guys and Gals,
I was at a gun auction today waiting on a nice looking 1100 when this parker single crossed the block. I figured at $300 and bidding stopped I wouldn't take a beating on it. Well some guy ran it up to $1000 and quit. Honestly before today I have never heard of a parker *ducking down waiting for the beating* My question is could someone help tell me what grade it is. I really would like to shoot just want to know if I should since it is not less than 95%. It is tight on opening and closes like a safe. Any info would be great. I put a link to an extensive set http://imgur.com/a/MtOEY Thanks, Tom Coulter serial #200584 opened up the bottom reads B 200584 5 As a good little boy i am putting some pics up |
Nice find, an SB (grade 5). According to The Parker Story, one of 96 produced.
So for a 1000 i am not getting burnt? Any idea on a value?
You stole it at $1000!!! You are one lucky guy.
Ok now I have the bug. Called a friend who had a double barrel he said it was a parker. serial # 136151 Any idea if it is worth looking at?
136151 is a 32" 12 ga. VH with a capped pistol grip. Any Parker is worth looking at.... getting one at the right price is what we all strive for. Seems you've figured out how to do that so go take a look at it.
That SB you got at the auction is beautiful. The buttstock may not be original to the gun but the case color and engraving certainly make up for that. |

Tom, You did get burnt a little on that deal --- it looks like somebody stole the hammers and one of your barrels.:rotf: But that's OK. I have a very nice 1100 and if you want to swap just let me know.:corn: Richard |
Well that explains why I couldn't get the extra shell in. Guess I will have to use it as a boat paddle or give it to kids as a toy since it is missing parts and won't work.:rotf:
For an SB, that is a great price. As Dean suggests, the buttstock MAY not be original. And the colors on the water table actually suggest, to me, that the action may have been refinished. But the photos do not confirm much on either point.
It does look to be restored, but a bargain at three times the price...
Post some better pictures of the buttstock and we will tell you whether it is likely to be original or a replacement. In fact, we would like to see better pictures of the entire gun, especially the engraving.
I guess i need to find somewhere to have this looked at. I am not sure it has been restored, it looks like a safe queen. Anyone know a good place to take it?
What is your approximate geographical location (state or major city)? Maybe there is a PGCA member near you that can help you out.
St Louis, Missouri area
I looked at the pictures in your file. It sure looks like either a safe queen, a good refinish, maybe a restock, maybe not. Whatever, it is a great gun that is worth north of $4000. A clearer picture of the breech area showing the checkering on the grip would give us a better idea whether it is a restock or not. It looks like the original checkering pattern.

Bill,
Check this website of pictures i took that have the engraving. I also am including some pics of the butt pad and some more close ups. http://imgur.com/a/MtOEY |

I like it. I'll buy it. PM me.
Paid 6K for my B grade... and happy I got it
You got a great buy on that gun. Others will know better but that looks like the original stock to me. B grade SBT's are rare birds. What is the length of the barrel?
I do believe it is 30. But it may be 32. I shall measure tonight.
It is a beauty. Use it- you'll love it.
It is in great condition, but the case colors just do not look quite right to me. That is why I was thinking it was restored.
Hi folks,
I'm going to close this thread and remove a post. My thanks, John |
