Hausmann's NE SxS Classic - June 3-5

For those looking at the SxS Events calendar I want to pass along that Ernie and I talked yesterday and he said there's a lot of pent up vendor interest in his 2021 Northeast SxS at Hidden Hollow here in PA. He mentioned RST, Steve Barnett FG (August), Fire Tower Doubles/Brian, Gary Herman, Mark Beasland, Robin Hollow and others familiar and some new this year. Woo hoo!

Dean Romig 04-02-2021 08:43 AM

I can’t wait!! Ernie’s has turned into my favorite shooting event of the year, right behind upland hunting of course.

Let's not forget the ever exciting and challenging Bo-Whoop long range competition and the WC Letterman single barrel trap event to be held at the Northeast SxS the first weekend in June.

This year there will be a modified Bo-Whoop event for those of you who would like to shoot your smallbores at these challenging, but breakable, targets.

Everyone has to pass the BW/WCL field on their way in to the tents and then again when they head out to the course. Please stop by, introduce yourself and try your hand at this fun event.

Bob Decker 04-02-2021 09:18 AM

The Lefever Arms Collectors Association will be holding their annual "Uncle Dan Cup" shoot-off at the Northeast Side by Side. The annual Fox-Lefever Challenge will also be held there.

Mills Morrison 04-02-2021 09:57 AM

My son Mills and I are coming. We are excited! Airline, hotel and rental car already lined up!

Harold Lee Pickens 04-02-2021 05:08 PM

Mills, you will love it--be sure and stop over at the Parker homeless campsite for some smoked grouse, adult libation, and lively talk.

Dean Romig 04-02-2021 05:44 PM

And we’ll tone it down a bit for the young feller.

Mills Morrison 04-02-2021 06:26 PM

He’s heard it all while in traffic with his mother

Will this be your first trip to Hausmann's Mills?

I bet it won't be your last.:)

John Davis 04-03-2021 07:40 AM

Daryl, tell me more about the Letterman single barrel event.

john pulis 04-03-2021 07:56 AM

Has the PGCA booked a block of special rate rooms in Vestal?

Glad you asked John.

It's a 10 target presentation using the two traps set up for the Bo-Whoop. Pretty straight forward but challenging enough that you really need to be on your game to score a 10/10.

But..... After following your career on the trap circuit you could very well be the W.C Letterman cup champion for 2021. Hope to see you there.

BTW- W.C. Letterman shot a Fox SBT of course. It would behoove you to shoot a Fox SBT and use your Parker as a backup.

John Davis 04-03-2021 11:43 AM

Suppose I’ll have to bring a SBT along.

If he shot a Parker, He wouldn't need a backup.

Mike Koneski 04-03-2021 02:03 PM

I know of one guy specifically bringing a Parker SC to shoot the WCL event and a Parker VHE live bird gun for the BW.

I'd be willing to place a bet in Vegas on those odds!! :rotf:

Frank Srebro 04-04-2021 08:37 AM

The Fox Collectors have offered the W C Letterman vintage SBT event at Hausmann's since 2013, except of course for 2020 when the Northeast SxS was cancelled due to the CV. I'm away from the records but if memory serves Parker SBT's have had very limited success over those 7 years.

EZ for armchair shooters and lawn chair kibitzers to tout their favorite maker; let's see who shows up with what this year and which one rules. :nono:

John Davis 04-04-2021 08:40 AM

Wow! Now that sounds a lot like a challenge.

Austin J Hawthorne Jr. 04-04-2021 08:54 AM

Would a Winchester Model 37 be considered an SBT?

It is John. A friendly one though.:)

Dean Romig 04-04-2021 09:00 AM

Let’s just remember - it’s the indian, not the arrow.

Please reference Frank's (Cold Spring) history of the winning guns for this event. :bigbye:

Sorry Austin, nice try but no.

You might want to retain Mr. Davis as counsel to argue the fact that it does have a single barrel. He will be the one to beat in this event.:)

John Davis 04-04-2021 09:16 AM

I except the challenge. Side bets?

Dean Romig 04-04-2021 09:16 AM

Watch out John, attempting to psyche you out just won’t work os such a cool headed shooter as yourself.

Yep that's the phrase but its corollary never seems to be mentioned ..... "No Indian can shoot well with a crooked arrow".

Mike Koneski 04-04-2021 09:20 AM

Seems to me that Parker, LCS and Ithaca guns have been putting up the winning scores for the SBT cash purse with the occasional second or third place $$ going to a Fox shooter.

John Davis 04-04-2021 09:21 AM

Good thing my bow shoots a straight arrow.

Definitely John. Maybe a Calcutta? I look forward to meeting you. As time draws near Daryl will be publishing out full rules to presumably include the cash purses paid out three deep as in the past. Friendly competetion with a twist to make it interesting. :)

Fox is the only gun allowed to win the “trophy” so in that way Fox wins the event. However, in my recollection having run the BW and WCL the cash purse has gone to other makers more so than to an AHF gun. BTW, I’m buying John in the Calcutta!! I like side bets and can talk trash better than most. 😂😂

Daryl Corona 04-04-2021 09:37 AM

I love when things heat up like this.

Wait until we get to Sanford with our LCS buddies! That’s when it really starts up.

Well, it's less than 3 weeks to showtime. Shouldn't things be heating up soon?

Already talking smack in PMs and on FB.

Frank Srebro 04-04-2021 10:02 AM

For those unfamilar or hazy on the W C Letterman vintage SBT event, this has not been trap shooting in the conventional sense and with oscillating/wobble outgoers. At least in the past, a mix of the three traps used for the Bo-Whoop Long Range SxS event are used and they may be quartering, screaming crossers, teal, droppers, incomers, etc. The WCL has also been shot from a different butt than the B-W and the clays are of course "on call".

I guess we know who that was directed at. No rule says you have to leave your sense of humor at the door.
