DRIVEN BIRD PAIR
I am a new member and and not familiar with the process but I will try..I bought a pair of parker reproduction shotguns about 2000. I took them to Scotland in 2001 and every year since except two. Wonderfull guns on driven shoots. We allways do 400 bird days and have never had to adjust for lack of birds. We shoot 5 days and 5 drives a day. Lots and lots of shooting. Only once did I have trouble with the second barrell firing and the airport security showed me why, when the security scan showed gun powder packed in the trigger mech. Sent the guns off to New york for a complete going over and tune up, will see this November if that fixed the problem, I am sure it did. That said I would like to know more about the guns..The serial numbers are 12-00651 and 12-00653. They are a far as I can tell a matched pair. They are marked with gold dots for one and two. They are 26" barrells mod and imp cly. Both have black recoil pads and above average wood...any info you might give as too date of build and value would be wonderfull JACK BRADFORD

Jack
you need to find #652 and hire another loader :rotf: |
Jack, it appears that you have something akin to a "matched pair". Tell us about the configuration of those guns - pistol grip or English; single or double trigger; stock dimensions; splinter or beavertail forends, etc.
Oh, and of course, condition. |
ENGLISH STOCKS, SPLINTER FOREENDS, SINGLE TRIGGER....I DON'T HAVE THE STOCK DIMENSIONS......I WAS TOLD THAT THE REASON FOR THE SKIP IN THE SERIAL NUMBERS WAS THAT 652 WAS A 20...DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS TRUE...I BOUGHT THE GUNS FROM A MAN THAT ORDERED THEM FOR DRIVEN BIRDS...THE CONDITION IS VERY GOOD, BUT THESE GUNS HAVE HAD MANY THOUSANDS OF ROUNDS TRU THEM. I HAVE BOTH CASES WITH THE TRAVEL COVER... THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I am sure we would like to set pictures of your set. The serial number story is certainly possible, even with London bests, matched pairs are not necessarily consecutively numbered. where do you shoot in Scotland? |
Welcome to the forum Jack!
Your Driven Pair of Repros are certainly scarce. I would have to believe that the recoil pads on them were installed aftermarket. You might find this previous thread interesting: http://parkerguns.org/forums/showthr...ven+bird+repro |
MOST OF THE TIME WE SHOOT THE BORDERS OF SCOTLAND AND ENGLAND. IF WE ARE DOING PARTRIDGE WE GO NORTH TO THE MOORS AND IF WE DO EARLY PHEASANT THEN SOUTH AROUND THE BORDER. I DON;T KNOW HOW TO POST PICTURES BUT WILL TRY TO LEARN. THANKS JTB

Wouldn't a 20ga gun have a 20 prefix? i.e.: 20-xxxx s/n
|
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE SERIAL NUMBERING SYSTEM. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE SEPERATE NUMBERING BY THE BORE. MAYBE SOMEONE KNOWS THE ANSWER TO THIS...
|
Jack, the serial numbers you posted indicate that your pair of Parker Reproductions are both 12 gauge, is that what they are?
