Valuable Parker at Auction
A Parker Bros. DH 410 Single trigger will be going to auction on May 19th. According to my 2012 blue book that gun is valued at $300,000 in very good condition. There were only 280 DH single triggers and lord knows how many of the 60 410's had them. I don't know the condition but from the photo it looks pretty good. Wish I had that kind of spendable cash to spend.
How does it go: If wishes were horses, beggers would ride....... Cheers, John |
I would be interested to see the entry in the Blue Book that values a DH .410 at $300,000. Where is this auction, or better, what is the name of this auction house? Where are you getting your production figures? 280 D grades with single triggers? How would you know that?

Pops always said; "If ifs and whats were beer and nuts we would all have one hell of a party!"........I too would like to know what auction house this gun is to be sold at.
|
Yup, seems some very important numbers got a bit skewed by whomever published that information.

I'm getting the numbers from the '2012 standard Catalog of firearms' 22nd edition, page 821. My apologies I added an extra 0. It says a DH in very good condition is worth $6,000 and for a .410 add 500%. That would be $30,000 not $300,000. It states that there were only 280 DH models were made with single triggers and only about 280 ventilated ribs were manufactured. It does not say how much should be added for a single trigger of a ventilated rib. Sorry for the confusion.
Here is the Auction house website: www.thecobbs.com this is the listing: http://www.auctionzip.com/listing/1282484.html |
Personally, I wouldn't pay a dollar over $295,000 for a D .410, even if it had a single trigger. I wonder if it has one of those bumpercar forends? To be fair to John, I posted this before his last post was posted. He is adding some good information. At least we know where to send the money. The picture on the auction ad looks suspiciously like a V grade .410. I wouldn't mind having one of those.

I agree with Bill...that is not a DH stock and the forend also looks like a replacement. Matbe it is nothing more than a VH after all... not that a VH is not a desirable .410 but certainly not worth $30,000.... probably not more than $29,999 :corn:

John, the Blue Book of Gun Values, 2012, 33rd edition, p. 1428 provides percent multipliers for SST, Vent rib and other features. P. 1428 gives a $70,000 value for a 99% D grade 410 , with an add on of 25% to 50% for ejectors.
I am aware that some Parkers are going for large sums, and there is significant money available for high collector quality gun investments. I have little doubt that we will see more Parkers in the $200, 000 to $300, 000 range in the not too distant future, if what I hear is true. Those guns that reach those high levels are subject to extreme scrutiny. |
John: The auction lists it as a "VH GRADE" with ejectors & single trigger SN 239473, estimated at $11,000 - $14,000.
A good buy if it can be bought in that range IMHO. Best Regards, George |
Well if I had 5 digit's to spend it would not be on a V grade 410 but hey... ch
