Would like to find out the grade of this L.C.Smith 12 ga. ser. 93913. The barrels have been cut off but retains nice wood and nice engraving. I love the dog on the forend wood.It has no safety and the stock doesn't look to be cut. Thanks Thomas

Charlie: It has a 2 stamped on the barrel in front of lugs so that would explain that. Thanks Thomas

What is that gorgeous bauble holding the gun in the raised position? Is that an old cane or walking stick top?

Thomas L. Benson Sr. 02-11-2012 08:39 PM

Dean: Yes it is a old walking stick that needs new wood and i need to get that done soon. Thanks Thomas

Very Nice!

Yes, new wood... Hmmm... hickory or ebony or maybe strips of both done like a cane fly rod.

Looks like an earlier Syracuse gun to me. I was thinking grade 2 as well.

Thomas,
That is a grade 2 from about 1899-1900 I think. Are the barrels fluid steel or damascus? I used to have a good set of damascus barrels for that receiver. I will look if they are still here.

Patrick

Patrick: The barrels are fluid steel and now it is a cowboy action gun with 19 1/2 inch barrels. That really sucks but it is what it is. Thomas
