At the Gun Show This Weekend
1 Attachment(s)
I saw a nice Parker at the gun show this weekend but didn't have enough money for it and he wasn't interested in trading for anything I had. It was a 1907 12ga VH, 1 1/2 frame, 13.3 barrel weight, 30" barrels. One barrel was full. The other was between IC and Mod (.014). No pitting in the barrels. Barrels were about 90 to 95%. About 40 to 50% case coloring remaining. The wood was excellent. What impressed me was the figure in the stock. Much better than my other two VH's. He was firm at $1950 which seemed like a fair price. Sorry about the bad cell phone picture. I got his name and cell number so I can call him if I sell a couple of guns.

Looks like a replacement buttstock.
|
still a nice piece of wood.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about it being replaced. Does this ruin the value?

No Marty: Not for a nice VH shooter. Like Ed said "It's a very nice piece of wood" $1,950 sounds like a fair price IMHO
Best Regards, George |
Marty in my opinion 12 gauge VH shooters in good mechanical condition go for $800 to $1200. I would make sure the hook has not been "dimpled" on the side to tighten the gun up or been peened down for the same purpose.
Check the triggers and make sure they aren't 1/2 pound or 14 pounds. And when there is no pitting in the barrels I always think they have been honed which of it's self is not bad. But sometimes they are honed so much that they are below my minimum wall thicknesses and then instead of a shooter I wind up with a wall hanger. Best, Mike |
That is gorgeous wood. Price doesn't sound bad to me in that condition.

Measure the bores, chokes, and wall thickness, and then write the check. It is a nice looking gun. Why don't you show us pictures of the 40% case colors?
|
I took several pictures with my cell phone but they were to blurred to make out. The only decent one was of the stock. We measured the bore and choke with a barrel micrometer. I don't have any way to measure barrel thickness plus he is 200 miles away. The barrel weight is 3.13 not 13.3. The gun felt light. My other two VH's have no. 2 frames and barrels of 4.3 and 4.4. The serial no. is 141074. Can someone tell me if the 30" barrel length is correct?

Not in the book. Sorry
