Latest Set of Damascus Barrels

Recently came across a very late set of 12ga #1 frame damascus barrels for gun number 241181. The book says the gun was a V grade with 32" barrels, I only have these 28" damascus ejector barrels and not the rest of the gun. Looks like they were originally meant to be extractor barrels, which I could see Remington converting them if that was all they had on hand. The short rib/ejector style dolls head also looks original. There is no Remington Overload Proof mark.

Did Remington mark late damascus barrels with the overload proof?

Are there any Remington codes stamped on the left barrel flat close to the lug?

Looks like this gun was a Parker Double Barrel Trap Gun, VHE, 12ga, BTF, ST, vent rib, with 32" Remington fluid steel or Vulcan steel barrels. Strange that Damascus barrels would be added at such a late date. Unfortunately the Remington IBM card entries don't give a whole lot of extra information.

Will the OP please answer Dean's question with a picture?

Come on Bill, your asking the OP to post a picture, something that you have never done on this site!

How are these barrels choked? That 8 in the serial number looks kinda strange could it be a 3 book has 241131 as D H 2 C 12 30". Have these barrels been cut? Does it have a reinforced barrel lug?

The only marking looks to be a faint patent stamp

And the + stamps. Thanks Channing.

Yes, the Overload Proofed stamp was on some of the last Damascus barrels. The beautiful DH12 that was in my safe for the past year and recently sold by Josh is an example.

It looks to me like those barrels started life as extractor barrels by the plugged screw hole in the middle of the lug. Quite a project to change or modify the rib extension from an extractor style to an ejector style!

I doubt Remington Arms Co. Inc. would have had anything to do with fitting a set of Damascus barrels to a gun in that late time frame.

I checked and I have pictures of 241182 in my files, a 16-gauge, 1-frame, VHE, with a December 1938 date code on the left barrel flat.
