Ammo Storage Cabinet
1 Attachment(s)
My current Kobalt storage cabinet (see photo) has served me well for a number of years to store my ammo and reloading supplies. However, recent ammo and reloading shortages have caused me to build inventory so I don’t find myself in a situation where I don’t have the ammo I need for range time and hunting (again). The shelves are sagging under the weight and I can tell I’m pushing my luck for a full-on collapse.
Can anyone recommend a commercially available lockable cabinet that might work for me? I am NOT handy at all so building one is out of the question. And, it would need to be lockable. Hoping some of you might throw some suggestions my way. Thanks...and have wonderful Thanksgiving all. Very thankful for this forum! |
Chris, I just use a safe to keep my ammo and such in, A Liberty Fat Boy I redid the inside did not take much at all to do Gary

I bought a large roll around tool box/work bench. This holds a lot of ammo.

Phil, I like your cabinet. Almost everything in my loading room is on wheels, except my ammunition supply. Thanks.

Safe storage
The safe idea is a good one. There are many safes and four drawer insulated lockable files available with bank closings. You would have to locate a bank equipment installer company in your area (not vendor). They are over run with removed equipment.

Here in Texas we have a company called Tractor Supply and frequently they have a Safe Specials:
I purchased two Winchester Safes model number TS12-30. The dimensions are height 55" bye 18 " wide 18 bye 15.5 inches deep. Delivered they were each $ 382.95. I put shelves in them and one is for reloading supplies the other for ammunition. You'll be shocked at the amount of "stuff" you can secure in these safes. |
Some great ideas here! Thank you for the suggestions.

Howdy to you George, those Tractor Supply safes you mentioned, do they have a fire rating? I'm looking for gun storage and personal documents also, possible some powder or primer storage, one or the other of course.

TS has them on Black Friday sale for $350. I believe the fire rating is 1400 degrees for 30 min. My son just bought one, and i may also to handle my "overflow".
