Thew engraving looks original.

This thread should be in the "Other Fine Doubles" category. I can say it didn't leave North 18th street with that trigger, trigger guard blue, pierced top-lever treatment, beavertail forearm, stock or skeleton butt plate.

I totally agree with Dave that it's not original, because of all the points he mentioned.

Hello Bob , I see your serial # isn't too far away from my XE's Serial # 24737 and my Trigger Guard looks exactly like yours ,same engraving and dark Blue !My opening lever isn't pierced and my gun left the factory with a Rubber Butt Pad , the one on it now is a newer replacement so I can't say about the Butt treatment but it looks very nice to me ! Your Cheek Treatment is a little different ,yours resembles a suit of Clubs and mine is identicle except mine at the back appears as a suit of spades ! Also mine has an Oval Initial Plate instead of a shield ! You may want to touch base with Mr. Tom Kidd ,he would be able to tell you exactly what you have !

Dean
I do believe that is our local Ed Lander as the name plate initials EAL
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.
Thanks for the input it looks real good …..maybe to good

XE-Grades in that serial number range, and several thousand either side, left North 18th Street with color case hardened trigger guards.

It has an interesting card. A.H. Fox Collectors Association members can get a jpeg copy of the card.

The Fox Proof mark (last pic) looks like it was engraved, not stamped which is typical. I'm thinking that MIGHT be a rebarrel. Can we see a pic of the barrel flats with the serial number, grade stamp and any other glyphs?

Love to get inside that Fox to see what the trigger mechanism looks like. I haven't looked up the Record Card as yet but with Dave saying it's interesting I'll bet it is. :)

IF it was done by Ed Landers of Mass. he was into re-barreling english guns and made a shooting and buying trip too the UK every year. I shot clays with a man who bought a re-barreled Dickson (sp) from him. At the time,70's, Damascus english guns were selling cheap allowing him to re-barrel and make a good profit.
