Hi Gents and thanks for the welcome.

Ive always been a shooter, be it hand guns, rifles, muzzle loaders, Black powder cartridge rifles (BPCR) and lastly Shotguns. Shotguns, which land me on this site

Ive always had a yearning for a antique double barrel with Damascus barrels and hammers. Up until now I hadn't done anything to make that a reality. So, months ago I began a search for a Antique Shotgun. I didn't care who made it as long as it was American made.

I was going back and forth about condition. Do I buy a low priced fixer upper, or one that's reasonably priced and restored , a safe queen was not an option, I want to shoot it. Besides anything over 5k is not in my price range.

So for a months I did a lot of searching online and at gun shows when I could attend. Nothing was "calling"me. A week ago my search ended. I found a nice 10ga Parker grade 3 # 4 frame, restored under 5k online, and its a heavy beast 10lbs +. Its already lettered by this site and I cant wait to have it home! Ill post a few pics once I am in possession. It will be used, not abused.

New Member - Greetings from Denver Colorado

I am the lucky recepient of a Parker 20 guage. I have determined that it is from 1923 by serial number. It has Titanic Steel barrels.
Question - Is it safe to shoot this gun with modern shotgun shells? My Great Grandfather bought it new and it has been in the family the whole time. Would love to hunt quail with it like he did but don't want to do anything to devalue the gun. Hoping to find out the general value of the gun as well.
Cheers,
Pete

:corn:Lots of pictures would help in giving you a ballpark figure.

Welcome Pete and what a treasure!
A Grade 3/D 20g might carry significant value.
Please be aware the original chambers were likely 2 1/2" and the almost 100 year old gun should certainly be evaluated by a double gun specialist before use.
I would suggest starting a new thread on the "General Parker Discussions" Forum, with quality images, and you are likely to get some informed opinions.
