Charlie Spigner

I heard a few weeks ago that Charlie had passed. I did not see any mention of it here so I thought I would let you guys know that may have not heard.

Charlie was not able to attend the NE this year. Ernie said that he had not been doing well.

Yup, we'll surely miss him. He added so much to Ernie's events.

Thanks, Brian. I learned from Morris Baker at the NE SxS that Hidden Hollow had a benefit shoot for Charlie a month or so before the NE SxS. I expressed surprise in that I didn't know anything was seriously wrong with Charlie. I wish the people involved in these supporting type events would post them ahead of time and give those of us who have known and done business for so long with those in distress could participate in them. It's tough to find something like this out by way of the announcement of a "Memorial Shoot".

Sorry to hear that, Charlie was a great guy ,he stayed at the same camp in Maine I stayed at. I always went to see him first at HHH.

Kevin, I didn't hear about the benefit for Charlie until after the event! I did hear he had cancer and that might have been sometime in May?

I bought a wonderful Parker from Charlie back when the VGC was still in Sandanona. He cautioned me that it was damascus and actually gave me some RST ammo to test it with. Went to the 5 stand and inkballed some targets then went back and worked out a trade with a GHE I wanted to get rid of. I'll be shooting it next week at the Rock.

At one of my first trips to the Southern I needed a shooting vest. Not just any vest but a left hand vest. If you are left handed you know how difficult that can be. Charlie said wait a minute I thing I have one in a box here under the table. He fished it out, it fit me, and I still wear it to this day.

He shared a table with a gentlemen named Boyd who always had his Lab laying next to the table. Not sure what happened to him but I haven't seen him in a while either.

"There but for the grace of God, go I". RIP Charlie.

I can't remember if it was Charlie or Boyd who had an outrageous XE Fox that neither one of them would sell to any one of a dozen guys who "had to have it".
