3/4" short shots

Does anyone have experience with or is there a members consensus on using the 1 3/4" short shot shells in Damascus & Twist barrels as an alternative to RST shells?

Are you saying 3/4 oz. of shot in a 2 1/2" shell?

If so, I've shot 5/8 oz, 3/4 oz, 7/8 oz, 1 oz and 1 1/8 oz (12 gauge) loads in most all of my Parkers with composite barrels. The shell length and the chamber pressure are the important things that determine suitability in a particular gun.

Sorry missed a key, no I'm referring to the 1 3/4" short shots.

Discussed here

They are not however low pressure
Aguila 12ga MINISHELL 1 3/4” 5/8 oz. shot 1,175 fps at 11,000 psi
Federal 12g SHORTY 1 3/4” 15/16 oz. shot 1,145 fps at 9,500 psi

The reason for my inquiry about the 1 3/4" short shot shells is because my Parkers have Twist & Damascus barrels and though I'm having Breck Gorman evaluate them both, I'm planning on staying with low pressure shells.

As we know RST is for the most part "out of stock" until Sept., and their shells are pricy for my budget so I decided to reload/make my own 1 3/4" shorties.

I dug out my 5th Edition Lyman's Shot Shell Reloading Handbook and am checking out the charts for "low recoil" loads. So far it looks like 16-17 grains of powder with a 7/8 - 1 oz load will keep the fps below 1100.

You can make those kinds of low pressure light loads with 2 1/2” shells. What advantage do you hope to gain by using a shell 3/4” shorter than those which the gun was made for?

Other than experimenting with a novelty, none. I'd also like to make some 2", 2 1/2's.

Would using shorter shells in the 2 5/8"-2 3/4" chambers be detrimental or dangerous in any way?
The shorter shell idea is just a novelty to me. My real intent is to reload low pressure rounds [below 1100].

There is a theoretical concern about the wad (assuming the Aguila shell has a wad) "tipping" in the gap between the shell mouth and the forcing cone.
I would definitely look down the barrels after each shot, and we all should do so no matter the shell.
