Eyes of a Bird Dog

Maybe I'm over analyzing but my Springer (like other bird Dogs) has the most intense gaze. Its a look I don't see in other dogs like my wife's Corgi.

What a subspecies!

Field bred springers don't get the recognition they deserve. Having gunned Springer trials for years, and competed occasionally, I don't think there is a more versatile breed. Many times we have gone thru a field which has been "cleaned" by other breeds, and have produced a lot of game. What is the breeding of your pup?

She's from Illinois, that's all I know off the top of my head. I have her pedigree filed away somewhere. What I can tell you though, is hunting over this springer you won't miss anything... birds, rodents, insects, undulates, microscopic organisms... all are rooted out, and flushed with great panache.

KINGLY!

I had one SPRNGER, and she was a great hunter and retriever! I loved her, and she did that "SPACE-STARE"too. I think they just are bred to always be aware, or it's the definition of "HUNTING"! But, your "pal" looks so beautiful...he's almost REGAL! Must be a KING!

The "Eyes" Have It

Dave: I agree about the eyes of a hunting dog. I also have seen Springers glean an area previously hunted. Here are the eyes for a departed friend TAZ and current friend CHARLIE

It's the predator in them that comes out in that gaze. They could bore holes in the bird cover with those eyes.
