Parker Art (Cornelia)

The May 5th Financial Times magazine has an article about the UK artist
Cornelia Parker and includes a photo of her nine meter long SXS shotgun.

The sculpture is at Juniper Artland, founded by Robert and Nicky Wilson.

The artist decided on this piece after attending upland game hunts on Wilson's property.

I wonder what the gauge would be?

Man - That’s like more than thirty feet long. I’d say it takes a shell the likes of which fits the big guns on a battleship.

In doing a little reading on this piece and the artist. One cannot say that she did this because she “likes” firearms.

She expresses the object as being “masculine” and a “9 meter long phallic object”.

Parker is primarliy an installation artist, which in my opinion are the oddest types out there.

So, the artist is probably not interested in smallbore guns.

Ya, like all of those members who drool over the art on high-end Parkers at our Engraving Forum...:)

Anyway, I posted the picture because I thought you might find it amusing- and, at least she used a sxs. As for her politics, I have very little interest in what artists, musicians or actors have to say on that subject, even if I like their work.

Best regards,
Patrick

Amen to that, Brother!

Paul Bunyan left it there by mistake.

Here's some art from a man who truly appreciated the Parker gun. My latest Fred Kimble painting. I believe this one is entitled "Duck Hunting 50 Years Ago".
