Changes over Time
Doesn't this look a lot different
https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...pecial-shotgun then it did on pages 88 and 89 of Larry L. Baer's The Parker Gun an Immortal American Classic Volume II. |
It looks a lot different than when I saw it last. Of course, the biggest changes in high grade Parkers were the changes in the consecutive numbered pair of A-1 Specials, the yellow guns. The last time I saw them, they were no longer yellow. A pathetic "upgrade".

It sure does look a lot different.
Last time it sold at auction it sold for considerably less than the previous time which was before it was not so nicely restored (another lesson learned about restoring fine Parkers). But it sure fit me like it was made for me. J.R. LaRue invited me to fully handle and examine it when Julia's had it on display in the Concours d'Elegance room at Sandanona. Let's see what it sells for this time. . |
The gun that sold before was a 20 ga. This is a 28 ga.
|
Wow you're right Jeff.
The one we mistakenly identified here was a 20 gauge two-barrel set. This is definitely a different gun. I was not even aware there was ever a 28 gauge Fleischmann Parker A1S. Chuck, what do you have in the ledgers on this gun???? . |
Funny that Larry Baer didn't mention any Fleischmann connection to this gun in his 1976 book? Still a 28-gauge A1 Special with 32-inch barrels, with original gold inlays, what is not to like except that I'll never be able to afford it!
|
The Fleischman Parker is also featured in Parkers Over the Rainbow. Film and article by the Double Gun Journal. I think if I won the lottery I would buy it
|
I’d buy it, but the LOP is a bit too long for me.. :rotf:
|
Probably well after C.T. "Buck" Buckman was buying the 28-gauge A1 Special two-barrel set from W.O. Rowley for $3000, I had to get a $500 loan from Navy Federal Credit Union to buy my 28-gauge Model 12 Skeet Gun!!
