More from the same Leffingwell book. Another Parker shooter, and LCSmith ad. Not sure, but I think the hunter is the young Kevin McCormack???

very modern looking call around his neck - no tongue pincher for him

I've always wondered what that call is he's toting? It almost looks like a Glodo.

What was the year of publication of the book?

The book copyright is 1894. I believe it is a 1st edition.

1895

the quality of the image is a little rough

i don't see enough taper at the end for a Glodo, or most early calls - that is why i thought it looks modern -not that i'm any expert

this one seems to have two parallel levels to the barrel with a ring between

Here are pics of the Title and Copyright pages. This is a very old and interesting book. Whoever owned it was a fan of Annie Oakley. There is a newspaper clipping from the New York Herald Tribune dated Sept. 18 1954. It is a book review of "Annie Oakley of the Wild West". There is also a magazine clipping of a picture of Annie Oakley after a 1911 quail hunt in FLA. On the reverse side is an advertisement for International Harvester pickup trucks. Based on the image of the truck I would put in the late '40s, early '50s.

You can read it as a Google ebook. It is a very interesting book.

Interesting! I'd never blown it up like that. It's a big call, I can't place it.
