Parker Sales Office Photo
Hi folks, hope everyone is doing great today. I have been thinking about all of those lucky ones in the day who were able to go into NY and be fitted at the sales office gun room with the Parker of their needs at the sales facility much like Westley Richards in London or even Holland and Holland in NY still today. In the latter days it was at 25 Murray Street and before that an earllier location. What a treat for me and I am sure many others it would be to see an inside or outside photo of the sales office at either NY location or even San Francisco. Does anyone know where one is posted? My best to all!:) Greg

That would indeed be so neat to see pictures of the inside and outside of those buildings.

Here you go. Sutter at Geary, SF, the old Sutter Hotel, taken this spring while staying at the Marines Memorial Club ( now that the Presidio is closed) and previously posted. Top floor, corner. Coincidently, Sam Spade, Spade & Archer, hung out in the coffee shop there while working on the missing Maltese Falcon case. In previous years, Captain DuBray ate breakfast in the coffee shop before heading out to hunt the Suisun or north bay marshlands around San Quentin point.

Ok, there we have the San Francisco office. Thank you Mr. Day for that very educational pair of photos. I had no idea it might be inside a hotel though if it housed hunters it would make perfect logic. Now if we can find someone to provide a picture the NY office or two that would be great. Thanks again, Greg

Mr Harris, the Parker SF office was the hotel suite of Parker's West Coast agent, Arthur DuBray, ex Civil War, ex 7th Cavalry, racconteur and hail fellow. All explained in Muderlak's embellished account KNIGHT OF THE TRIGGER . DuBray maintained a stock of Parker guns but mostly took custom orders and appeared at major shoots and events up and down California, which then as now has extensive wing shooting opportunities.
The Sutter was then as now a residential hotel, not a hotel for hunters. Here is a DuBray gun ordered for an executive of Los Angeles Iron and Steel Works, San Bernadino. This gun was ordered with a matching 16ga for the same purchaser, which I have tried unsuccessfully to find for ten years. |
That would be a find Bruce [16 ga.] The postings of these C's is killing me, I have a CH 12 semi pistol grip in the shop..... about to get paroled soon... can't wait with hunting season coming on.
Great slab of wood Bruce. |
Bruce ,That sure is a beautiful Gun !!!!!!!!

Mr. Day, thank you for the clarification and additional information on the SF hotel. What a nice looking gun. Greg

The guns of the New York showroom were in a large format salesman's portfolio catalog, reproduced by Larry Baer, of which plate photos have been previously shown here.
