Parker Tribute rod finished

I finally finished the fly rod that sports a real seat made from an old Parker stock and its shield. I posted the work in progress a couple weeks ago.

It is beautiful. I love the craftsmanship, it is one of the best expressions of the ideal of American citizenship expressed by your virtuous work! David

Dave,Absolutely beautiful.....

100 years from now people will wonder who made that rod. You should place your name and date of manufacture on it. Is the metal on the reel seat case hardened?

You have a true talent!

I put the serial number of the Parker on the sliding band and my name one on the butt. The metal components are all cold blued nickel silver.

Dave,
Very beautiful as well as creative. Nice job on the photo's also. Thanks for posting.

Very nice Dave. Will it be seeing any time on the water or is it strictly a display piece?

Dave Fuller 07-24-2010 10:57 AM

I have to go over to Kalispell for work next week, it may see some "time on the water" then. It casts like a dream. I think a 7 1/2' 5wt is the sweet spot for bamboo.

Dave;

Your rod is a hum dinger, simply beautiful and the right length and weight (5).

I envy the rod, your talent, and the fact that you are going over to Kalispell to christen it, as I have been there but did not fish.

Have fun fishing. and leave some fish for the next guy.

Roger

Fly Rod

Very nice looking rod and perfect varnish. Is that a DT 5 or WF 5? A nice slow 5 will usually roll more leader than the length of the rod and can't be beat for nymphs; it will also roll out sparse size 12 streamers.

The nymphs shown work well in this part of the world. Streams here are back up after a heavy thunder shower Wednesday. Five brookies took a sort of orange fish hawk in an hour in the stream by the house last evening,

Best Austin
