DH Parker

I bought a DH Parker recently, not much condition, but original. It does still have the skeleton buttplate. It's a damascus gun. Is there anyone making reproduction barrels for Parkers at this time? Thanks much, Jake

Hi Eric,

I just wouldn't feel right bringing Jerry's DH to Vintingers? In fact we don't even know if his is a 20GA yet???? ;)

Why would you want to replace beautiful damascus barrels with common, ordinary, BORING fluid steel barrels?

From top to bottom, my family of DH damascus guns, a 10, 12 and 16. I'd really like to find a nice 20 to round out the family.

Well, that's true really. How about someone that can bring the pattern back? The gun truly could use restoring. I of course can do the wood, the barrels and frame are another matter. Maybe better off left alone however. I have a Dickerson 8015D10 in my shop now for repairs, it's delaminated on all 4 pieces. I STILL hate to touch something to unique as a Dickerson however, but...it's of no use as it is. The guy that owns it only wants it to display on a board with his Dad's other stuff. I'm trying to talk him out of anything much at all. Jake PS. It'a 12 gauge gun, not sure of the frame size yet as it's going to be shipped here Monday. I'll post some pics once it hits.

Jerry,

There are a handful of guys doing an excellent job of refinishing damascus barrels but of course you want to make sure the barrels are sound before you get too far down the road.

Post some pictures when you get the gun. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see your recent aquisition.

Good deal, thanks so much guys for the help. If I can ever help anyone on this board with L.C. Smith guns, repairs, especially the dreaded Hunter One Trigger ( Just proves they had opiates back in the 1800's, how else could A.E. Lard have invented such a mess!) or ejectors, parts, etc, please let me know. Jake
PS. I love the L.C. Smith guns, they are my pets, but the trigger truly is a nightmare.

I love Elsies too

And three pc. two tip Lyle Dickerson rods-- I have LC 12 gauge parts, sometimes barrels-- It is unusal to see a Dickerson or a Paul Young rod, whether a 2 pc. or the 3 pc. as your friend has- delaminate as you described-- Some years ago, when I fished- I was staying at Rusty Gate's Lodge on the "Holy Water" and using two "pet" 7 & 1/2 foot "Steinways" a pre-fire Leonard 3/2 49 and also a Paul Young Perfectionist- Both rods responded well to my casting style with a Hardy LRH with a Wulff 4/5 TT line- 6X and 18-20 size flies tied by Rusty-

He took me and another friend down to the Mason tract- and his friend had a 7 & 1/2 ft 2/2 Dickerson 5 wt--we traded rods that afternoon, he loved my Leonard and I wanted a Dickerson like his-- Rusty, as usual, was fishing his old 9ft. 5 wt. Orvis graphite--we stayed until dusk and caught a nice spinner fall- and unlike the Main branch, that section of the Mason Tract (at least 20 years ago) saw few canoes- aka- "The Grumman Hatch"
Tight Lines---:bigbye:
