What would you do...

Ok guys got a question, up at the UP shoot I bought an O grade 16ga hammer gun on an O frame. Nice wood good locks and action but the barrels.... measure 28 thousands but the pits about a dozen or so messure another 10 thousands with gives you 18 . I bought the gun for parts but like I said the gun is tight on face the wood if refinished would be great etc... So would you sell it to someone who you know would shoot 20 or 28 ga tubes through it or should I just part it out and sell it that way like I had planned..

Eric,

I had a VH 12 gauge with pitts deep enough for a grounhog to hide in. This is the Parker I gave to Sherman Bell to blow up and if you have read the article in Double Gun Journal you will remember it did not blow out down the barrel at 31,000 + psi, it blew at the breach. I shot anything I could stuff into the chambers through that old gun. I would not hesitate to shoot RST's or low pressure handloads through your 16. Those are lovely old guns with the dished out water table. I woul keep it whole and what a wonderful little 28 gauge it would make with Briley tubes.

I would tube it and shoot it (or sell it) if it had shootable wood. Price it and send it down here if you don't want it. I don't have a .410 hammer gun.

Oh alright.... I'll be a friend and take it off your hands (I can't stand to see a friend suffer) but only as a package deal with that 16 ga. DH straight grip gun you don't know what to do with....

28g Briley Ultralight tubes would only weigh about 10 oz., possibly less with fixed chokes

You'll have to fight Dave Miles for that straight grip and that is if you can get it out of my hands I shot it pretty good on Friday practice and Sunday, we'll just forget about Saturday :crying: So Dean the straight grip is out but this little hammergun well maybe....Eric

Eric,

As you know - Scott has all my Parkers.. Would you consider sending that rusty, crusty, beaten, used-as-a-tire-iron once, worm pitted, forlorn, spindled, mutilated, broken, abject, wormy, sight-sore Parker to well - "me"..???

Thank you...

;)

John

How about a "trade" for a another rusty old tire iron in the form of a D 20 ga damascus..."even up" both on a O frame couldn't get much fairer then that...:)

John Dunkle 06-24-2010 05:36 PM

Oh look Eric.. I would, but then I'd be accused of taking advantage of you? I mean, that old DH has twisty thingies rather than pits..? But thanks for the offer..!!! I just, well - wouldn't feel right, if you know what I mean???

Yer' Buddy,

John
