Spring 2016 Parker Pages "errata"
Brian Dudley contacted me today concerning his article, "Variations In Parker Bolts and Bites".
Please refer to page 39, Fig. 4 Please refer to page 40, Fig. 5 The illustration on page 39 for Fig. 4 should have been shown on page 40 with the caption for Fig. 5, and vice-versa - the illustration on page 40 should have been shown on page 39 with the caption for Fig. 4. My most humble apologies to the author, Brian Dudley, and to our readership for any confusion caused by my lack of attention to detail in my final proof-reading of the issue. Dean Romig Editor.... where the buck stops. . |
dean if you didnt make a few mistakes you would not be human...anyway thanks for the mistakes and every thing else you do....charlie
|
I think the mistakes give PP a sort of patina.... like a well worn DHE with soft rubber butt pad and 30 inch tubes. Yeah there are some scratches and hits to the barrels but I don't even see them anymore.
|
Another embarrassing error has been brought to my attention...
On page 29, "The Cow Gun", to the left of the trigger guard picture - the paragraph beginning "I have written before..." down the last sentence before the bold type "Gun History and Provenance" all needs to be eliminated. It has nothing to do with the Cow Gun article and are the words of another author in another article. And once again, please accept my most humble apologies both to Mr. Carmichael, author of a fine article and, as well, to the reader. . |
Dean,
Most readers could not comprehend the work an editor does to achieve perfection, or nearly that. You are doing a heck of a job for which few others are qualified, and fewer still would accept the challenge! Mark |
Thanks Mark. Those are very nice things to hear.... but how are we ever going to recruit my replacement (when the time may come) with folks reading such stories about the horrors of editorship? :rotf:
Actually, it is very enjoyable and educational. . |
Dean, one more mistake and you will loose that 6 figure salary that comes along with the editors job. Seriously, I just got my copy yesterday and haven't stripped the wrapper off yet, and those technical errors would be over my head. Relax
|
Dean.
As much as we (mostly I) enjoy ribbing you about PP, we who work with you know that it would take 3 people to replace you. It is an incredibly difficult job. And it is an incredibly important job. PP is our most important mission and it is our link to our members. EVERYBODY gets the PP. We are lucky that you are willing to do your job. No one else could do it. You actually could hold us hostage. Don't get any ideas, though. |
I won't be able to see my copy for over two weeks provided the post office delivers it before I get home !
Are there any articles this month on 8 or 10 gauge guns ? |
Yes, Craig Larter's includes them, as does Mike Franzen and Jim Wescott's.
