Baker L grade checkering recut
2 Attachment(s)
Here are some photos of a Baker L grade that I am working on recutting the checkering on. Before and after photo. 28 lines per inch.
These very early high grade Bakers are rarely seen. The worst thing about this checkering job is that once this L grade is done, I have a second L grade to fully checker as well in the same pattern. Attachment 45547 Attachment 45548 |

The Baker L-Grade is a pretty scarce item. It doesn't appear in a Baker Gun & Forging Co. catalogue Daryl identified to me as 1905. It is in the next catalogue I have which he speculated circa 1906 --
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...logueCover.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...sevxp4txk.jpeg It was also shown in magazine ads in November 1906. This from Outdoor Life -- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...sqhpvbqij.jpeg By issue 4 of The Baker Gunner for 1909 there is no L-grade. |
Nice Work!!! Not easy to connect the dots with so much washed out!
