410 barrels CSMC

I have just put my $500 down for a set of the Repro .410 barrels. I was told that they were expecting them to be finished before the end of the year. I'm in no hurry. But will try to forget about it. Has anyone recieved the 16 ga. barrels yet?

Hey, Fred. I guess I thought that the 16 ga barrels had been available for some time, and were not made by CSMC. You might do a search; there have been some stories of fit problems.

I remember the original 16's were made by Kreighoff, then years later CSMC had 16 ga barrels available. When I spoke with Rich at CSMC today, He told me that the 16's were nearly completed, but they had just recieved orders for 4 more sets. And that he was looking at 16 ga barrels as we spoke. He further said that they anticipated that the 410 barrels would be out before the end of the year, and were the last of the Repro barrels to be produced. Then come the barrels for the original Parkers. Hopefully that means I've got sometime before deciding on a 28ga barrel for the VHE.

I'd not heard of poor fitting barrels, but I don't get out much. If the 410's come to me and are poor fitting or less than expected quality, I would likely return them.

It seems to me that for the most part the Buyers have been please with RBL's and CSMC in general. With the exception of wanting the guns alot faster than they arrived.

Amen to slower than predicted delivery! Those barrels were supposed to be available last September! I didn't realize they were offering 16 ga CSMC-made barrels.

Don't expect them to fit when they show up at your door and good luck sending them back if you alter them.

Greg Baehman 04-05-2010 10:17 PM

Dave, would you expect CSMC to accept barrels back if you altered them?

I would like to hear more about this. Have you personally had issues?

Fred, best advice is to send your gun to CSMC to have the barrels expertly fitted. If, when the gun arrives back at your door, you find something not to your liking you can deal directly with the fitter - CSMC. This way there will be no third party that CSMC can claim damaged the barrels (not that a third party might but just to eliminate the possibility that CSMC could take such a position) and CSMC will be solely responsible.

Makes plenty of sense to me. I would only want my barrels to be expertly fitted.

Thank you Dean.
