Looking for Parker-Hawes Brochure
 

Starting in 1933, Parker's shotgun advertisements mentioned that a person could write for a Parker-Hawes Fly Rod brochure. No copy of one is in TPS. I'm looking for a Parker-Hawes brochure, original or copy, and will do a PP's article. If you want to sell an original or can provide me with a copy, it would be much appreciated.

Bruce, I believe that the PGCA files include copies of the 1932, 1933, and 1934 Parker-Hawes two page pamphlets.

Bruce, the three pamphlets I have seen have no pictures, just model numbers and prices.

That is still useful, Bill. I am asking the American Museum of Fly Fishing, where Austin Hogan's father was a founding member. I am also asking a good friend if he has a brochure. A brochure or advertising material would show the various lengths and weights and the prices. I understand the rods cost about as much as a V grade shotgun when new, and apparently still do.
Hope I don't strike out in the search, but we shall see if any are left that would be available and that I might have access to. I've never seen any of the pamphlets.

Several years ago, I remember reading that some PGCA researchers copied some old catalogs at Ilion. It happened and I'm sure the copies are still in the PGCA research collection. Austin Hogan may have been involved in that research project. I hope you are able to penetrate the "Black Hole of Curatorship" and get your information.

Great Fishing Tackle Catalogs, Melner and Kessler with comment by Sparse Grey Hackle, Crown, NY 1972 page 317 -318 has some good comments on Hawes and a list of lengths and models offered.

Light rain and water temp about 40F on the Ammonoosic; I might wet one today

Austin- may your line be tight and your net free of tangles. Do you use a tailer for salmon and steelhead??:bigbye:PS- If I "wet one" tonight, branch water and a few rocks are the right recipe!!

I don't know about any "black hole of curatorship", but a couple people are looking for me, I have some leads, and if one is around, it will show up.
