Quail hunting anyone??

I would like to put together a group of members for a Southern Quail hunt at Morrison Pines in Moultrie GA. The venue comes highly recommended from our members Mills and Julia Morrison who are in no way connected to Morrison Pines.

The dates are obviously as yet undetermined but either the first week or the last week in January 2015 is still open. I'm thinking of a three day hunt and during the week is more available then dates encompassing a weekend. I have spoken with Jerry York from Morrison Pines and the details are as follows.

The daily rate is $750.00 which includes meals, lodging (single occupancy), hunting with 20 birds/day + or - field transportation. NOT included are gratuities, GA sales tax @ 7% and a $12 preserve hunting license. Air port pick up is available from either Albany, GA or Tallassee, FL. I didn't inquire as to the cost of this service as a three day hunt will entail 6 guns for me so I'd drive.

Information is available on there web sit you can go to Information@morrisonpines.com Also Mills did a Parker pages story on one of their recent hunts there not to long ago.

There is no better way to escape the winter in either the Midwest or New England than a nice Southern Quail hunt. If your interested please e-mail me at rlanderson410@msn.com or by PM. Lets put together the first PGCA Quail hunt.

Morrison Pines

I hunted with Jerry York when he ran Ashburn Hill across the road for about 8-10 years. I have been to Morrison Pines as well. The hospitality is first rate, guides, dogs, birds and food are excellent. Jerry and Buddy have a loyal following with guests dating back to the 70's. They have become lifelong friends. I have tried many of the South Georgia Spots but these guys will have you coming back.

Count me in..

This amazes me that the price of hunting Quail in Georgia has come to this in just fifty short years. WOW!!!!!!!!

Rich Anderson 05-08-2014 10:29 AM

Compared to some of the other locations this is a very good deal and it's pretty much all inclusive. Due to personal reasons I had to cancel a hunt last year at the last minute. Three days of hunting crowded $5K.

Well Rich you already know this but count me in. The price seems to be very fair. I will be looking forward for this hunt.

Julia and I highly recommend Morrison Pines. A first class operation all around. We go every year. I am helping one of the local Judges here organize a trip there through the SC Bar, but if that does not pan out (and we don't have other conflicts), count us in. We'll be hunting there sometime in the upcoming season, regardless.

The last week in Jan 2015 is available. We can go either in the beginning of the week or the latter but there is a big group returning Saturday the 28th. We can do a Wednesday -Saturday where we would hunt a half day Wednesday and Saturday. This might work well for those of us who have the long drive as we would leave Saturday afternoon.

Let me know what might work better for those who have committed to coming and those of you who are still thinking about it.

One thing about Morrison Pines, you will enjoy the other guests there. Some are double gun fans, but all that we have met are interested in the same kind of thing there. If you go by yourself or with just a few, don't worry about being lonely.

This trip will be here before you know it. A great Quail hunt on the table. Mills and Julia will be joining us who else want's to escape Old Man Winter next January?
