Loaded some 000 today .

Using my same old load of SR7625 with the SP-10 wad I'm able to put two 000 per layer and get 4 layers nested .

Hopefully this will look good at 25 yards . To be honest I don't think I've ever fired 000 Buck in anything before !

it will pattern great at that distance...i ve patterned my old ten parker with this load to 40 yards it would do a deer in.. charlie

I put in for an area permit on the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge a day or so ago . If we get drawn I'll take one of the 10 gauges loaded with buckshot and a rifle or my Savage 220 rifled bolt action with Remington AccuBond Sabots !

Hope we get drawn I haven't hunted there in three years I think . Main objective is Sika deer but they've relaxed the regs on whitetails as well !

I already have permits for muzzle loading and the shotgun seasons on the Blackwater NWR for Sika and whitetails this season !

Been hunting the little Jap elk on Chincoteague since 1991 and on Marylands Eastern Shore and the Blackwater since 1996 .

A pair of 6 point Sika from MAryland and a pair from Chincoteague each year and I'd give up whitetails and black bear for the rest of my life !

Just got back from the range !

Tried a 000 and #4 Buck at 25 yards !

Well as it looks #4 , #3 , #1 , 00 and 000 Buck all shoot well enough in this gun for what I'll do with it on deer !

Now all I need is to draw an area for Chincoteague NWR !

Craig,
Those patterns look pretty good to me. I am not much of a supporter of buckshot but I think at 25 yards those loads will do well. Will you do me a favor and look at the muzzle of your L. C. 10 gauge to see if there is a line similar to what is on a Parker to signify barrel length. My barrels measure 31 1/2 inches. I thought they had been cut until I checked the muzzles while cleaning and saw a distinct line across the rib. I think the barrels on mine are the original length but am still curious as from what I have read the barrels of these Syracuse guns were either 30 or 32 inches. Thanks.

Dennis

My barrels are 30" .

Here are two pics of the end of the rib . It looks to me as if the end has the same border that goes along the side edges of the rib .
