I got a chance to look at these puppies today - CE 20ga Lefever with 28” Damascus barrels. Almost certainly Loy engraved with his signature geometric designs. Super rare gun!

Definitely Joseph Loy's engraving. Nobody did dogs like he did.
. |
Yes, the Loy eyebrows and nose.
|
....and the eyelashes and the big pupils too.

Since non parkers are allowed, here are a couple of Browning Pointers engraved by Vandersmissing

Not the best pic, but this is a DH I will be receiving in about a month. Really nice detail I think.

Yes indeed Bill, from one of the very best periods of hammerless Parker engraving.

Had a visit at the kennel today - here are the pups on the side of a late D.M. Lefever & Sons Crossbolt 5B 16ga. Sweet gun with 26” Krupp barrels!
|
In reply to James Halls painting. Hugo Anton Fisher, at auction his dog paintings sell between 500-1500. Check "Invaluable" auction, some are for sale now
|
Nice dogs on the crossbolt Josh! Can you show a pic of the other side and maybe the bottom of the gun as well?

I've been going through Baker pictures this weekend, and thought of this thread. I noticed that on the couple of A-Grades with serial numbers in the 3xxx range I have pictures of the dogs on the lockplate have their heads above the center pin --

Craig, that is simply the best gold dog inlay I have EVER seen on any gun, bar none. And to top it off, it looks like the work of Joe Loy.
