A gorgeous gun Mark!

Thanks Dean,

I particularly enjoy shooting Jones Underlevers, IMHO they are terrifically ergonomic. Especially when walking and reloading. Ths gun also has 30” tubes, and weighs a touch over 6lbs.

This 1913 vintage Ansley H. Fox A-Grade is my usual pick when Quail are the intended game --

but this 1938 vintage A-Grade could also be called upon --

Both of my Parker Bros. 20-gauges are way too tightly choked. The 2-frame is too heavy as well. Haven't yet gotten the chokes hogged out on the 0-frame.

I used my new 28 gauge that is supposed to be mod and full this weekend and it did surprisingly well. The misses were all my fault and not the gun.

You just never know how a particular gun will perform. My experience, at least

I used my Fox A 16 28" IC/M to take a quail Sunday at a preserve hunt over Kenny Graft's
Gordon, Ruby.

One of my favorite guail and grouse guns is a 20 bore GH, shipped in 1903 to South Carolina. With cylinder (a few points of constriction) and modified 26" barrels, it was obviously purchased for quail hunting.

Mills Morrison 02-19-2019 01:41 PM

Tom, my GH began as a 20 and was shipped to Virginia in 1903 as well. I bet it was a quail gun too
