Wow , I have always wondered if Parkers built a 8 gauge higher than a D grade as thats the highest grade 8 gauges I have seen offered in the catalogs .

Kevin, our old friend Norman Strebe, who had the gun store in District Heights, had a steel barrel CH grade 8. I wonder if it's the same gun or maybe it went to New Jersey? Could there be two, or maybe three steel barrel CH 8s? Who knew there were so many DH grade steel 8s, and so many for sale at one time? Does anyone have seventy grand to spare?

Two with Acme barrels - one 34” the other 36”

Of course, there could be more if we extrapolate for missing books.

"Just" is a word that should never be used in front of 26". Fashion is fashion, and it changes over time. Live long enough and it will all come around again. I have my eye on a nice higher grade lightweight 12 1 frame gun that would take close birds with it's nice 26" barrels.

If by Jersey you mean the guy that had the 7 or 8 Smith 8’s I’ve been hearing a couple rumors that stuff may surface soon .

For many many many years I thought 26” was the perfect length of a side by side . Now I still love 26” guns but I’m pretty much open to anything that’s factory original . Hate to say it but my sporting clays scored took a northward trend when I went to a pair of VH 30” guns a 12 and a 16 . And I’m slowly starting to like 32” 12’s and of course 10’s . Matter of fact I made a deal tonight for a DH 12 32” 2 frame which I’ll send a check for Saturday or Monday , so I suppose that’ll be my first indiscretion of 2021 :rotf:

That guy was Bernie Libratti and he passed about 5 years ago. I speak to his wife on occasion and as of now, she has not decided to move anything yet. Bernie had 8 Smith 8 bores several Parker 8 bores including a C grade titanic steel bbl 36” long He had a myriad of British and European 4, 6,and 8 bore guns and several large frame Parker 10 ga. guns

That be the one . Tom Armbrust was telling me about another guy as well I think he said from Jersey that passed and his collection was dispersed at one of the auction houses , Tom also said this fellow was big into 8 gauge and above stuff . Of which most of the Brit/Euro stuff went back across the pond . Do you know who this person was as I do not remmember the name he gave .

Jim DiSpagno 12-30-2020 10:13 PM

No I don’t Craig but it’s not Bernie’s stuff. Bernie never mentioned another person from NJ that I can recall.

I’m going to pm you a story on your Brutus and it’s origin
