I never thought that "Checkbook Bruce " was anything other than a derogatory put-down.

I have acquired some guns by inheritance or gift, some by trades, some I had to sell others to afford and some I have purchased over the course of several months. Besides being derogatory, I never felt it was accurate.

Damn I was going to stay out of this one, but I met both Bruce and Charlie and a couple of other fine guys at Phes Fest in Kansas City and to tell you I have not seen two guys more approachable to talk about guns. They were open to take time with all that had questions about the booth, PGCA or guns. They never question your reason for buying that gun but talked about the merits it did have, so they are true Ambassador for us. Oh yeah, they have some nice Parkers too. Don’t know that I lick their boots but I buy them a couple drinks to hold their attention while holding their guns.:rotf:

Yeah, the personalities of the owners may grate but the merits of the gun should be the thing that holds our attention without needing to make remarks that may be offensive or hurtful.We all know people we are not fond of but with whom we find ourselves sharing a common interest and/or have knowledge that we like to tap as it suits us. My last father in law was difficult but I focused my attention on his daughter and had to be civil with him.He's an acquisitive gun collector too so that may have something to do with it.

I was at KTP today and handled and examined a very pretty fluid steel barreled pre-WWI Diamond Grade Daly in twelve gauge. If memory serves the serial number is 1308. I don't think it weighed 7 lbs with its 28" barrels. It has a few issues but it has terrific possibilities. I only wish I had my camera with me.

How does KTP expect us to get interested in their guns with no pictures?? I love those Diamond Dalys. I have a lower grade Linder Daly with workmanship that is unequaled in anything I have ever handled. I had a 5#4oz featherweight 12ga Daly sent up that had way too many issues that I sent back pronto.

Maybe Mr. Dunkle can take a picture or two and show us.

The figure in the stock is wonderful. It does have one age check in it at the buttplate but that can be taken care of by a good stock man.

Good comment, Chris. I wonder is Mr. Herzog has gotten the message? I have never tried to make Bruce a victim, but he has done a good job himself.
