Thanks for all of the caring. I tried to hold off until my daughter could get home from college. She is due in tonight. Unfortunately it was not to be. The vet was a kind older gentlemen that runs shorthairs himself and loves to hunt. I did not want to bring her into the vet office. He understood and as she nuzzled into my hunting vest laying in the back seat of my truck, I stroked her and I talked to her as if we were hunting, encouraging her to go find some birds. She passed so peacefully without so much as a whimper. She and I are at peace now. Enough of the rambling. Thanks for letting me get it out.

My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. I lost my great pointing Lab Parker last Jan. very suddenly to cancer. That's him in my avatar. It never gets easier to let them go but you know you must. So what did I do? I went out and rescued 2 labs and got them through their first season, I think, with flying colors. Life just ain't the same without a cold nose. (or two). |
