There are two schools of thought on this Clark. Some believe in the longer shot string and some believe in the shorter. I for one believe in the shorter. I've found my 3/4oz loads in the 20 and 12 produce good results. All the shot is arriving basically at the same time and is less deformed in setback producing an even pattern. Many shooters just don't have the confidence in these light loads. I do know that the reduction in recoil is a plus for me. Shoot the lightest loads you have confidence in.

I took this gun hunting again today with the new loads I indicated. Results were unfavorable, but I didn’t take a single shot that really should have hit anything. So, this one’s on me. It’s in my head now, so this gun is going in the safe and it’s next date is with an array of shells and a pattern board in the spring.

Thank you Daryl, I was headed in that direction.
I plan to start reloading this winter.
Soon I’ll be asking about recipes :)

My 28 repro was the worst Parker I owned. It doubled and I couldn’t kill a sparrow at 10 feet. Nobody could fix the doubling. I wouldn’t rule out buying another with DOUBLE TRIGGERS as God intended.Of the 3-4 I’ve shot they all seemed to shoot very high.

Now I’m just gonna wait for Koneski to chime in that I miss with everything. What a gomer ; )

I've got plenty. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your bride.

Andy brings up an interesting point - maybe not all Parkers are great.
Good for discussion around the dinner table.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

You are comparing apples and oranges. :bigbye:

Amen. Really not a fair comparison.

Light loads, heavy loads, recoil problems, no recoil problems.

None of this is as important as whether or not the gun likes the load and patterns right with it. Figure that out first. If the load the gun likes is not one that you like shooting . . . . get rid of the gun and find one that does.

Too many S X S fans think they will pattern and regulate fine with anything they stuff into it. They usually will NOT! Occasionally you may find one that is regulated with most any load, but that is rare.

I wonder how these might pattern?
