12 days till opening morning.
I will open this year with my VHE 16 ga 32" 1 1/2 frame F/F SG DT Splinter. Affectionately named "The Nightmare" I took her to Canada a couple weeks back and she shot right where I looked! Numerous doubles on decoying Canada geese and mallards Kent 1 1/16 #5 loads (of which I now have plenty -TY PGCA friends) will again be the preferred load. Starting in a wood duck pond. Will be Ellie's first hunt at Vanderbilt. She is my 2 year old Drathaar taking over for Emma after 8 seasons. Counting down the days :) |
Great pup! Great gun! I wish you good hunting.

I acquired a 30" 16 on a 1 frame this year and hope to try it on ducks.

Scott, I was actually just thinking about using the GH 16 I bought from you on doves if we get an invite soon |
Mills, one of the three shotguns I regret selling (Fox SBT, Lefever EE and your Parker 16 gauge).
Hope to see you at the Spring S x S Shoot. |
Ron,
I would recommend purchasing a copy of Arizona Atlas and Gazetteer which is a detailed topographic maps by county. Extremely detailed and has larger stock tanks marked. I prefer the area around Wilcox, several large tanks in Dragoon Mountains, back side of the Huachuca Mountains along the Coronado Trail Road (my favorite with 5 tanks between Parker Canyon Lake and Coronado Lookout) and west of Patagonia towards I-17. |
Last week I hunted with a put together VHE 28 ga that had no forend or wood, after a year and a half it is now in the field, shoots nice tight M and F (ie spearders) it's my raining day gun
