This is our boy Sioux. He is 3 yrs old GWP out of Ironwire GWP. Great pup, who hunted hard right out of the box at 9 months old his first season. Have had him chasing grouse in the mountains, pheasants in the red grass and cornfields .... and quail in Oklahoma. Love hunting with him and even more when my 9 year old daughter Meg joins along!

Haven't kept any bird dogs in quite a few years .

But when I did they were all English setters except for one hard headed English pointer . Needless to say I'm quite biased for the English setter as a bird dog be it grouse or quail . Wish I had gotten an Old Hemlock Setter but was never able to .

I'm also partial to Boykin Spaniels , my aunts father in law used to raise them in the Sumter area of SC . All his dogs I saw work seemed great in the dove field , duck marsh and turkey woods .

Henry, that is a great Wirehair picture. My Wirehair, Eva, is resting and will not pose for a picture.
