My rainy day gun is a Winchester Model 59. Plastic barrel, aluminum receiver, wood stock. Rain won't hurt it.

Have you "Woolnerized" it?

I was told by an old gun nut friend, now deceased, that during the VN War GI's took Winchester Model 59s and cut them down for usage in the bush. They are strange shotguns, but I like mine. They're not to tough, and whippy, but still I take out mine for chukar and rough terrain hunting.
