Everyone who knew Austin was a little better for it. I only met him briefly at a couple of the annual PGCA meetings but he always had time to teach me and he was a true "old school" gentleman. We will all miss him.

Austin and Pam a couple of years ago waiting for the ferry to cross over to the other side of the Mississippi.

I spoke with Pam today and she is aware and very appreciative of all the warm responses from the many people who knew Austin either in person or thru his writings. I created another post with more information (Austin Hogans Arrangements) so it would not get missed. Many thanks to all for their heartfelt reply's.

It has always been on my list to meet Austin at some shooting event. I likely saw him in the dining hall at McMurdo station on his last trip south as we were there at the same time and I almost got the camp manager job for the station he worked at. A missed opportunity for sure. I really wish I had gotten that job now.

I met Austin in Las Vegas at Beinfeld's, back in the early days of the PGCA. Had him and the boys out for pigeons a couple of times.
I would love to be able to go back and re-live some of those times!

As a new forum member, I am saddened to know I have missed an opportunity to get to know an influential and knowledgeable man in this community. I do, however, look forward to getting to know him through all he has left for us here.
Aware of the struggles they've endured, having lost my mother to ALS, My heart felt sorrow goes to his family in their loss.

Harry
