I was light headed when they got through the 17 row of Winchesters. $255,000. Tomorrows Winchesters requires a note from my doctor.

Of course I wasn't there in Fairfield so I couldn't examine the guns (and I never received my catalog!!!) so I have no idea of the condition of the guns you listed Robin, but it seems like the gun market is still suffering a bit of depression - case in point, the Grade 2 28 gauge.
I suspected the 20 ga. Grade 3 lifter would go to $24 - $26 and it appeard more than one serious collector wanted it badly enough. |
I can't say with any authority whatsoever whether the Parkers went poorly. Many had 'issues' as compared to originally shipped, but a DHE 20 ga for $5k is startling.
On the whole, I felt that much of the Winchesters assembled were going very well. I Have a difficult time believing a std grade '92, in the least desireable cartridge, 38-40, can be worth six thousand dollars. Condition may have trumped caliber here, but I have seen, and have several that are equal to, if not better, for less than half that. Tomorrow's Winchesters are the stuff dreams are made of, and I'm anxious to see how they do, if only to reaffirm my knowledge I'll never have one like most of them. |
I don't think I've seen a better lineup of fine Winchesters. Stunning. Not enough High Walls for me though.... One could spend hundreds of thousands just tomorrow! I want the long bbld 1886 in .50 express! What a beauty. Seems that lot 1123, the 12ga lifter for $2500 was reasonable. I really like lot 1124 the 10ga lifter in the case w/goodies. Nice piece. Lot 1584, the damascus Colt .45-70 dble rifle, S/N 32, is to die for! What a fine moose gun that would make.

I had high hopes that some day I would own the A-1 Special 8 gauge. I first saw and coveted that gun in the late sixties or early seventies on Jack Puglisi's table at Baltimore. It would be a great rainy day snow goose killer.
