It's a nonsense policy. Interestingly I called their headquarters and they are not aware of any such corporate policy.

I hope you pursue this since corporate doesn't even know about such a policy. Whose business is it anyway to limit a sale. They posted a price [most likely a colossal screwup] and someone was willing to pay it. You would have to provide an FFL to ship it anyway unless you had it sent to a closer location.

My stock answer when someone is flim flammed by a business is "Well, who didn't know that?", or more relevant, "What did you expect?".

I was going to. The older I get, (closing in on half century) the more I realize if it's meant to be it will be. We had some big moves going on during this and that is what is important. In the end, these things we collect are just stuff.

I would have loved to add this to my meager collection. Ironically I decided that I no longer wanted any more 12 gauges! But, it's gone. I hope the membership keeps an eye out for it to maybe bring the story full circle. I am still waiting for the letter but I suspect it will list everything as is.

The only solace at this point would be if the barrels are too thin to shoot. I would have returned it as I don't own a gun I won't shoot.

Ironically, the store manager left me another voicemail today? He was re-iterating their "stance". I'm not so sure some frogs aren't getting a little warm. Not sure why he would call again.......

I find it comical they have a policy on resale when 95% of the time their prices aren’t on this planet with us. They are basically admitting that sometimes they don’t do their research properly, as that’s the only situation resale would come into play. Alas, the situation we have here.

Do we know the serial number?

107634. It’s still on their site actually….they are horrible about keeping accurate inventory

Gone in the wind

One of a few things happened here.

1) Someone called immediately after Ryan did and offered much more for the gun. Like $2000 plus. And it wasn't me. I didn't see it.
2) One of the employees or one of the employee's friends wanted the gun, so they came up with this BS story about some policy that doesn't exist.
3) Another employee already sold the gun and to save face, rather than admit they made a mistake, they came up with this BS policy.

Depending on who at Cabela's is buying the gun, they take a wild ass guess as to what it's worth after looking at the on-line BlueBook and they make the seller an offer. At that low of a price, the employee has no management oversight. So, the buyer didn't know what they were buying and the seller didn't know what they were selling. The perfect storm of an incredibly low price. Probably a grand kid or a widow. It happens more often than you think.

There is one store in the chain that would not sell me any guns for about two years. The fool running the gun department said I had "something" going. He said he didn't know what, but that I had "something" going. Only after having a few other managers and a district manager stick up for me has the guy now decided to sell me guns. You're talking about a bunch of $15 an hour people here.

I will say that is one hell of a gun. The whole situation is too bad.
