For additional information, 27425 was NOT included in Order #14744 from Folsom dated February 15, 1882. There are either additional orders from Folsom covering "trap guns" or, as I speculated in my article, Folsom was attaching their specially molded butt plates to regular Parker doubles. Order #14744 covers guns serialed as low as 26142 to as high as 29106. There were 132 guns in the order with 69 being trap guns.

Bill: I don't have 27631 but that is a number in life that has significance. From what you say, there is a chance it could have been in Order 14744. I wonder if there is any way to track down that gun, beyond of course, the august gentlemen of this forum. (I asked about it a couple years ago) :)

27631 is not in the order, either. Sorry about that. I checked twice. Try calling Mark and seeing if he has any info.

The easy way to find out what order a Trap Gun is one is to order a PGCA letter on the gun in question. Forty bucks, no fuss, no muss.

I ordered a letter the day I purchased the gun ,Will report back as soon as it is received ! Bill ,do you think it would say if these with the " Special Butt Plate " are Trap Guns as early as they are ? I was just hoping H&D Folsom ordered the gun and sold it ! Russ

I have never seen an order for a gun with a trap buttplate that was not a Folsom order. At least one that I have seen specified particular guns in the order to have trap buttplates, others to have standard buttplates. I have not seen the order with the mold.

Thank you Bill ,I am looking forward to my letter ,as old as these guns are ,you just never know if someone exchanged plates ,although I think it would be odd for a Trap Butt Plate to be laying around ,but it has been around for a 129 years ! Boy if they could talk ! A letter verifying what I have will be nice ! Russ
