I wonder what the pressure is in the 1145 fps load ? Any ideas or info ? EDIT OUT: I looked and they are out of stock on several choices (one of them my choice)

I am not sure. Nothing listed on the box. It does state Reduced felt recoil. Then also stated do not use in Twist or Damascus barrels.

Bruce, these loads would be loaded to standard velocity and pressure. Since it is a paper shell, and Remington has not loaded paper shells since 1960 or so, I would assume they are the same pressure as a Federal paper shell. Most of the major factories load to SAAMI pressure, nothing "low" like with a handload or RST. A 12 gauge shell would be in the 10,000 psi range.

Phil, Nice box, but a bit perplexing. The part that says 14 Grs. TARGET was Peters medium height brass shell for bulk smokeless powders. Their medium height brass shell for dense smokeless powder was the HIGH GUN. The Load No. 397x was for a TARGET 1 3/4-dram, 5/8-ounce load. Load No. 187x was for the HIGH GUN 14-grain, 5/8-ounce load.

I ordered a flat yesterday in 7-1/2 shot and 1145 speed. I always liked the Peters brand and perhaps was overly influenced in my youth by the Peters Packs the Power adverts in the sporting mags. The hardware stores in town didn't carry Peters and I'd ride my bicycle two towns up the line to a store that did. I was fortunate to do some fox hunting ahead of trailing hounds back then with a good man who took me under his wing, and when the baying swung towards me there was nothing like the confidence of having two Peters high brass 2's in my Western Arms double gun. They were the regular 1-1/4 ouncers at 1330 or so speed. Well anyway, I like Peters blue paper shells. Yeah I know these new Peters are target loads but they'll work just fine for birds in any number of my double guns. :)

I looked at these when I first saw them but nothing led me to believe they were low pressure, just a vintage look.

I shot two boxes of the new Peters shells through my VHE. Let me tell you: The smell is amazing!

I am ordering another flat.

I shot two boxes of the 7 1/2's at trap today. Used an old Ithaca SBT that had experienced chamber tightness with fired cheap steel base ammo. Checked these shells with a magnet--solid brass. No problems with extraction. May buy another flat if they still have them.

Boy, you guys are really hung up on the Peters name and a pretty box. Why not get hold of some Federal paper hulls and load them to whatever specs you want for $5.50 s box. And they smell just as good! Oh, I forgot, Parker guys are always a cut above!
