I forgot to mention that 28" barrels might add 3-4oz vs 26" barrels. If that's off, I'm sure someone smarter than me will chime-in.

You're right Scott, and let's not forget the extra 1/2" of walnut that would add at least a few ounces as well.

The weight of a gun is a subjective number as there are so many things that effect it. The 0 frame 16 is a sought after gun due to it's lighter weight but I have 0 frame 16's that are heavier than 1 frame 16's.

If it balances correctly and isn't muzzel or butt heavy then to me the weight isn't a big deal....up to a point.

I love the idea of custom shotguns built in tribute to someone’s bird dog.. Just shows the affect these dogs can have on people.

I guess I'll still be a contrarian. A heavy gun is a heavy gun to be carrying all day in the uplands. A heavy gun is for waterfowl or clays. I do agree the "feel" of a gun is affected by more than just weight. The repro for sale seems heavy for a double trigger gun with straight grip and a splinter. I don't think you'll see many DT, SG A1 special repros for sale, but I just can't see why it is 7lbs 10oz.

Well, I talked to them..

“There was a mistake in the ad. It is a 1 barrel gun with no case.”

Kinda pricey...

A few years ago, I couldn't afford to have a gun engraved with Freckles, my favorite Setter I ever owned, and Ruby, my first Vizsla, so I commissioned Mark Larson to paint them in gold leaf on the stock of a 16 hammer gun he put together for me....The three of us still on a least one hunt a year together, although those two never met in real life!

The risk of being to cheap on the engraving of an A1 is to "ruin" the gun and make its sale difficult . Above as exemple is this A1 blued , sold as cheap as its finish . Good it was possible to remove the finish .But if the customization is not at least as nice than the factory or not done in the style , it may not be a good idea . That should be done for the pleasure , not for the investment .

Being too cheap with the engraving could make the resale very difficult , like at first it appeared with this A1 custom blued .
