John D, you are right. Both the 26" and 28" 3200s are less than that measurement.

The reason for the shorter-than-published lengths is because of the rib block spacing for attachment to the barrels. A true length rib for actual 26" and 28" would have required a different rib spacing. Better manufacturing efficiency.

That harks back to the 26 3/4-inch Winchester Ventilated Rib barrel on the 12-gauge Model 12 Skeet Gun. 1939 --
