I just saw this thread. I have been in Maine hunting grouse for two weeks.
Congrats to my NH buddies. I am jealous.

I did get one. Shot on the wing with a Parker, the Governor's DHE20 and RST 2.5 inch 71/2 loads.
Not shot in a tree or on the ground.
I didn't take many shots because the leaves are all still on the trees and green to boot.
Charlie Purple had fun and got lots of practice finding and retrieving my bird and some other donated carcasses.
