Unfortunatly when I moved here from Oregon I had to sell all of my equipment. My lathe my mill and welders all of it. I hope to replace it some day. The ribs on the old 8ga scott have to be resoldered. That means the barrels have to be disassembled and then resoldered. I have never attempted this before and this gun is valuable so this is not the place to start. Best to practice this sort of thing on a junker. If I can ever get my shop set up again I will start doing this stuff again. I saw three squirles out side my window today at the same time. They were playing in the leaves.

turnbull offers the rib service I think its 600$ .
my bonehill may need to be sent in to have the action tightened up its not off-face its a loose up/down move moment instead of usual gap between receiver face and barrels .
If I don't get this car loan I will probably get my bonehill action tightened or not if the ec green is tight like the seller said . Wayne your sending the 8 ga to brad aren't you ? wont resoldering the ribs be part of his work ?

Brad is doing the whole gun. It cost 1000.00 for Turnbull to resolder the ribs and rebrown the Damascus. That also include recutting the makers mark on the barrel. The gun is supposed to look like the day it cane off the factory floor.

Its going to be a beautiful gun !

atleast the bluing on that scott probably protected the metal surface from pitting all these years ? my barrels on my 10 bore are grey ! wonder what theyd look like browned , hmm

If done properly they will look great. With Damascus it is the same process for blueing or browning except for the boiling.

maybe i ought to load the little dog up and me and daisey come to your house to hunt squirls..don t look like the weather is going to break for a coupla days..youre right about not starting on a good gun like the scott to practice working with...them boys do nice work for sure..a fellow gona do my 8 ga parker barrels when i get the money.. their stub twist they should look good the fellow does good work by the pictures he sent me..i ve also got a d grade set of 20 ga damascus barrels that need a coupa dents removed andthe pattern brought back...is there no end to the things we would like to do and so little money to do it with.ha charlie

Well there certainly isn't a shortage on squirrels here But the season may have ended the end of January. Otherwise you would be more than welcome. I have lots of room and we could hunt with the 8ga guns. Maybe we should use the 10s. They are a bit lighter. I bought a dent remover at the southern last year. It works pretty good. It was made by a fellow named Hostford I believe.

will your dent remover work on a 20 ga..they say the hosford tool is a good one..that would be a good hunt hunting with the 8 ga s i usally carry my chair with me useing the 8...maybe the ten s would carry better if there s much walking to do..charlie

The last time I went I killed three squirrels within 50 yards of the back of my building. My dent puller will work on everything from 20ga to 10ga. I thought it did a fantastic job for something I had never tried before.
