Are the barrels interchangeable between the regular model 11 and the Sportsman version ?
|
Craig,
I believe they are but I am no Sportsmen expert. Be careful with low serial number barrels as they we mostly fitted at the factory. I don't believe you can go wrong with one of the later barrels that has the milling on the grey extension to save weight. Will |

The Model 11 20 gauge arrived today . I’m going to take the Sportsman in tommorrow and see if the barrels swap . The new one needs a new spring something to do with the trigger assembly and it’s already ordered from Numrich . Other than this spring deal the gun looks in very decent to good shape .

Nice looking early 20-gauge.

The old factory ledger states that receiver was put in work, along with about 7200 others, between May 3, and June 14, 1930. The code on the barrel PY P = June and Y = 1930.

Here are both sides the barrel on the model 11 16 . I don’t think they have the letters .

Craig, beautiful guns for sure! But a discussion of the Model 11 certainly needs an honorable mention of her cousin, the Browning Auto 5:) Here are my two, a 1959 second year light 20 with a 28" Vent Rib Mod barrel, and a 1962 Sweet 16, with a 26" Vent Rib Mod barrel. Both in original condition. The 1962 and older guns were rust blued and had the reddish stocks, both of which I prefer.

Nice looking gun you have there Craig!

I've got an A-5 two barrel set - skeet and full - and that is all I need. It is a 12 gauge.

Is a Browning automatic with a square knob stock really an A-5? :nono::nono:

It's 1903 Trap Grade in the 2xxx SN range. Blessed to able to care for it a while. Will |
Will I still consider myself a learning student when it comes to Remington automatic shotguns. Your Trap is very handsome but why no cheeks on the head of the stock? Also, I was under the impression that 1905 was the first year of production?
|
Craig, I think his gun is a Browning Auto 5, not a Remington Model 11
|
Thanks Steve, my error, still learning. Craig

The conversation got highjacked to Brownings and I followed the current. Stephen is correct. The first is an Ad in an Oct. 1903 Western Field and the second (pardon the rotation) is a 1903 FN Browning A5 Catalog photo. Will |
