I just talked to Buddy M and we are meeting at Drakes at noon on Wed to shoot. I anyone interested in Joining us?
David

Mike.Smith 03-22-2014 04:51 AM

Wow, really sorry to hear about Dave's eye. I hope he's able to make a full recovery.

Rich, the new course is something else. My Dad and I went out and shot it on opening day. Some really cool stations and the great target setting you're used too at Drake Landing. I know you're going to love it.

David, is that this coming Wednesday, or the Wednesday before the Southern?

Mike

David Dwyer 03-22-2014 05:47 AM

Mike
The Wed before the Southern. Can you make it?
David

Daryl Corona 03-22-2014 06:26 AM

You guys are lucky to be able to "practice" before Rich, Eric, hopefully Mark and I get there for our "competition" but rest assured that we will be loaded for bear after this dismal winter here in the north. Let the games begin!

Rich Anderson 03-29-2014 10:49 AM

It's getting close to spring....finally and time to start planning the activities at Drakes for Thursday April 24. I would like to get a head count of those who will shoot Thursday so we can plan for a lunch on the grounds. Dan said he would provide a meal at a nominal fee. Off the top of my head I count 15 or so shooters but lets be more accurate.

there will be lots of shooting on thursday so bring plenty of shells and a good appetite. Last years lunch was wonderfull.

I'll second Rich on the lunch, it was great... and remember there is really no shooting going on at Deep River on Thursday so come on and join the fun.... Dean, Larry, Jim, Dave, and anyone that shoots a SxS, it's before the DR shoot so please join the fun. It is really a great time and everyone is welcome, just no score cards, those are for Deep River....:rotf::rotf:

David Dwyer 03-29-2014 11:29 AM

Rich
I am shooting at Drakes Wed afternoon, Thurs, and probably Fri AM
David

Buddy Marson 03-29-2014 11:51 AM

Rich, I'll be shooting at Drakes Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday so put me down for lunch.
Buddy

Daryl Corona 03-29-2014 12:19 PM

David and Buddy;
What time are you shooting on Weds? I'll be there for Thur., Fri., and Sat. But Rich, you already know that.

Mills Morrison 03-29-2014 01:47 PM

Friday

Buddy Marson 03-29-2014 02:14 PM

Daryl, we plan to meet about noon on Wednesday.

Buddy

Craig Larter 03-29-2014 02:18 PM

I will be shooting Thursday with two friends. Craig Larter

David Dwyer 03-30-2014 07:59 AM

noonish on Wed

Harold Lee Pickens 03-30-2014 08:22 AM

Rich, Im leaving Wed at noon and will definitely shoot on Thurs.

Mike.Smith 03-30-2014 10:02 AM

I'm trying to make Wednesday afternoon work so I can shoot with Buddy and David, but I'm for sure there Thurs, Fri, Sat.

Mike

Daryl Corona 03-30-2014 10:07 AM

Same here Mike. If I can swing it, I'll be there between 12-2pm. if all goes as planned. No use wasting a perfectly good shooting day.

Rich Anderson 03-30-2014 10:34 AM

So far we have 11 confirmed shooters for Thursday so we can have two groups. I'm thinking a round or two of true pairs and some hammergun competition. We can draw names for teams and have some fun. I'm so looking forward to this, now if I can get the gun room cleaned out so I can actually get to a shotgun and some shells perhaps I can get in a little practice:whistle:

Harold Lee Pickens 03-30-2014 03:24 PM

Now, just where am I going to get a hammer gun, hmm, I've got an idea.

David Dwyer 03-30-2014 03:29 PM

Rich
Lets find one more gun and do three groups of 4?? It goes faster and smoother. JMHO
David

Eric Eis 03-30-2014 03:34 PM

David that's a good idea, I am surprised that we don't have more people signed up to shoot on Thursday as it's a down day at Deep River with little shooting and the vendors just starting to get setup.

David Dwyer 03-30-2014 03:48 PM

Friends
I will have five Parker hammerguns with me ,so if someone need to use one let me know? No, you can not choose which one! I have a pretty nice steel barreled 12ga W W Greener I could bring if anyone wants?
David

Richard B. Hoover 03-30-2014 05:37 PM

I would be interested in joining you guys at Drakes for the shoot. I presume it is fairly near Sanford?

Richard,
It would be great if you joined us. It's a great time and a beautiful course. Send a pm to Rich, David, or Mike and they can tell you how to get there. You will have fun and it's not far from Deep River. Eric

Rich Anderson 03-30-2014 07:35 PM

David I haven't heard from Marc the Moderator yet but I think he's planning on shooting Thursday.

Harold I thought you would have jumped on the JP Claybrough hammergun I posted for sale. It was a great gun and a great buy....for one of our members in OH.

i don't think our numbers are bad for a Thursday. I would expect to see about the same maybe a few more Friday.

Daryl perhaps you can post an invitation to join us on the Fox site?

Daryl Corona 03-31-2014 08:19 AM

Good idea Rich. Will do.

Daryl Corona 03-31-2014 08:52 AM

Done!
www.foxcollectors.com forum.

Harold Lee Pickens 03-31-2014 09:06 AM

Rich, somehow I missed that one. I had to go back and look it up--it was very nice.

Mike.Smith 03-31-2014 10:53 AM

I mentioned this to a few folks on the Fox site already as well and will follow up with them to see if we can get a few more. I have a feeling that our numbers will pick up as we get closer to the event. I like the true pairs and hammer gun events. I think we'll probably see a sub gauge event as well don't you think?

Mike

Mark Ouellette 03-31-2014 11:00 AM

Gentlemen

Do not babble about this or that event without mention of a Big Bore event for 10 gauge guns.

Mark

Rich Anderson 03-31-2014 11:05 AM

I'm sorry Mark but most NORMAL people don't use 8's and 10's for sporting clays so if you and Mills would like a big bore shoot then you can have one. More people have 20's vs 10's I'm sorry it's just the way of the world:rotf:

Mike small bore meaning 28ga??:):)

Rich Anderson 03-31-2014 11:29 AM

Boys over compensate with the bigger is better theory, real men get it done with less. its the world according to COB:rotf::rotf::rotf:

Rich Anderson 03-31-2014 01:10 PM

We have `13 confirmed shooters for Thursday so far. Bring plenty of shells:rotf:

FRANK HALSEY 03-31-2014 02:25 PM

I will be there Friday morning. I get in Thursday afternoon and do alittle practice on the 5 stand. Are we starting to meet at 9:00 AM on Friday still?? Thanks for all your hard work on this. I think it is going to be fun. Frank

Rich Anderson 03-31-2014 04:47 PM

Frank we will meet at 9am Friday at Drakes Landing. See you there.

Yea and bring a Big Bore SxS! :rotf:

Rich Anderson 03-31-2014 07:37 PM

Mark YOU should bring a 28ga:duck: or at least borrow one.

Rich,

I would need to borrow two of those small bores and tape them together :rotf:

Rich Anderson 04-01-2014 09:56 AM

Here's the difference between those cannons you shoot and a nice small bore. With the small bore it's like dancing with a super model, the big bore a Sumo wrestler:rotf::rotf::rotf:.....I like the models:)

Rich,

I am happy at my age to still be able to wrestle a sumu!
