Just to set the record straight... Addieville East Farms is in Mapleville, RI which is a part of Smithville, RI I believe... but I think Bill knew that - he's been there before.

And I'll be there for sure next year - a few times next year in fact, it's only a little over an hour from my house.

And Mr. Murphy... you have no grounds to critique anyone's prose. Your original post proves as much.
This will be my last post on this topic.

Best, Kensal

Sorry Kensal, guess I missed your sarcastic meaning about me liking cartoons, I'm just a simple guy so maybe you can explain your meaning (sorry I am a little slow)

Bill Murphy 09-26-2011 09:36 PM

I think I missed that one too.

I attended Vintagers and noticed about half of the vendors present from a year ago. A conflict of major shooting events on the same weekend cannot be accidental. Why can't we all just get along and enjoy our great sport??

I thought this was an interesting post over on Double Gun

The overhead for the event must have been enormous as well.

"No doubt if EPIC had been even a moderate success, some would have pointed to it as proof that "green" shoots are the wave of the future and hailed it as the largest "green" shooting event of its kind. By reaching only 5% of their attendance goal, it's going to be hard to argue that the lead shot ban didn't have huge negative impact.

Instead of being a showcase for the new "green" era, it turned out to be the Solyndra of the shooting world.

Not only did they spend lavishly on a new temporary Marty Fischer designed sporting clays course just for this event, a couple of free country music concerts, a new viewing pavillion, polo matches and infrastrure for 30K people who didn't show up (as one attendee sarcastically put it, there were more porta-pottys than people there); they put tickets up for sale for half price on Groupon, but still only mangaged to sell 62 half price tickets.

Let's hope the financial loss for SCI & QU isn't so bad that it seriously impacts the good work they do on behalf of hunters and wildlife.
om DGM "

I wonder if Kensal has any comments..

I have no dog in this fight, but I can tell you this. I will not put steel shot thru any of my vintage guns. I have a Beretta AL 390 for that.
