I need to stop messing around and get an 8ga. Parker as well. I have let a few slip away that I wished I had bought now...

Dan and Craig, just announced by Rick Hemingway is he will have two 5-Stands ready to roll Wednesday AM. 20 & 16 Challenge plus a 12g event and a pump gun event. That said, David, Dave and I will be at DR on Wednesday.

Rick said there is no 10g Challenge planned, so y’all can cross that off your list. (My words, not his)

So now we can shoot for score Wednesday ? With no 10 gauge that’ll reduce my bring shoot guns by atleast one .

That’s what Rick said. Friday starts the Main Challenge qualifying.

I will be there Friday morning. I just bought a 8ga hammer gun from a member. I will pick it up and be shooting it for the first time Friday morning. I did already have 50 Track of the Wolf brass 8ga. 3 1/4" Shells and an original Parker 8 gauge caper.

Looking forward to being part of the 8 gauge club and the shoot on Friday morning.

As for loads, I am getting to work with 2 different recipes: I am going to try: 5 1/2 drams of 2F and 1 3/4oz and 6drams of 2F and 2oz of shot. It's a heavy 7 frame gun...I can't wait!

Congratulations Jay and welcome to the club!

You’re priming with large rifle primers or large rifle magnum primers ?

Mike Koneski 04-08-2023 05:59 PM

I think you’ll be the only guy shooting BP in that event! Did you’re there Sunday, shoot the BP event with that gun. I think it begins at 1:00? We’ll probably be on the road already so I may bring some of my BP shells just in case we’re still there.

Jay Oliver 04-08-2023 07:13 PM

Those are Wincheter large pistol primers, which should be fine with 2F. I did order some felt wad material as that is better than the fiber wads(though I use both).

I will be well on the road Sunday as well. I think I have shot that event in the past when it was on a Thursday. Can't wait to be a part of this!

Congratulations Jay,
I look forward to comparing to 7 frame Hammer Guns, I assume yours is a top lever??

Looking forward to watching you shoot those black powder loads, I just haven't warmed up to the idea of shooting blackpowder yet, although I do now have the cases.

Stan
