The 20 ga had no safety also. I looked at the other DH but thought I had too many projects.

I hadnt noticed the lack of a safety. Its funny of all the hammerless double shotguns Ive looked at I seem to run across the no safety only on parkers and Ive seen it several times over the years. I wonder how it affects value, I guess they are rare but anyone who wants one for hunting wouldnt want it.

PS even without a safety I would have gladly bought it for 3 Gs. I actually talked to the gun room guy about it this morning since it was still showing as available on the internet. I couldnt get much out of him other than it was "sale pending".

I can't imagine why a Parker without a safety wouldn't be a desirable hunting gun...

The lack of a safety switch on the top tang doesn't render the gun 'unsafe'. In such cases we simply open the breech and it is safe until it is again closed.

I hear you, I guess it shouldnt be a problem but its not what Im used to

I know that this post is 4 years old, but I found some information about this gun.
I just thought if someone ended up with it, they would like to know some of its history.
This gun was used and tested for a article in Sporting Life in 1900.
Gun was tested for velocity and pattern against a 12 gauge Parker.
